Bringing a School Herringbone Floor Back to Life

Recently, our team completed the restoration of a beautiful herringbone timber floor within a local school, transforming a worn and tired surface into a durable, attractive floor ready for the new academic year.
The Project
The project involved restoring approximately 102m² of existing herringbone flooring. Over time, heavy foot traffic can cause timber floors to become scratched, dull and worn, reducing both their appearance and longevity.
Rather than replacing the floor, restoration provided a cost-effective solution that preserved the character and craftsmanship of the original herringbone design while delivering a high-quality finish.
Our Restoration Process
To achieve the best possible result, the floor was sanded using a progressive grit sequence.
This process removed surface imperfections, old finishes and signs of wear while creating a smooth, even surface ready for finishing.
Once sanding was complete and all dust and debris removed, we applied:
1 coat of Junckers BasePrime
3 coats of Junckers HP Sport lacquer
Buffing between coats as required to ensure optimum adhesion and finish quality
The result was a beautifully restored floor with enhanced durability and a professional finish designed to withstand the demands of a busy school environment.
